Don't Build That Road

about

A while back I got wind of a proposed "connector" road project that would disrupt a lot of wildlife and destroy some beautiful countryside in my beloved homeland of central Kentucky, all in an effort to save drivers a few minutes and waste a whole lot of taxpayer money. My amazing aunt Liz was among the leaders of a group of local citizens who stood up, organized, and (peacefully) fought against this outrage. They formed a group called "The I-75 Disconnectors," whose heroic efforts have forestalled the construction of said monstrosity and ensured that greater care will have to be used (along with further environmental impact studies, etc.) when, if ever (hopefully never), the project finally commences. I'm all for progress, but at what price? Anyway, that's a larger debate for another day. However, I was so proud of Aunt Liz and all her good work with The Disconnectors that I decided I really wanted to help out, and being way out here in California, where we know a thing or two about over development, I figured the best way I could lend a hand was by writing a song. And that's just what I did. My good buddy Mr. Daniel Kushnir, known to some as Pause MC, got on board and co-produced this little number here into existence. His efforts and talents helped turn a well written folk number into the slice of musical beatitude you hear before you. Listening back, I'm quite proud of the tune and what Dan and I did with it. And, I am 100% sure it's the reason not only that the damn road wasn't built, but the sole cause ensuring that the Earth still orbits the Sun and the Moon still shines in the sky at night. Well, maybe it's not that serious, but I do hope you enjoy it nonetheless. and that you'll teach your children about the birds and the bees and the grass and the trees, and not just the city streets in this crazy concrete jungle... there's a lot of America out there. Let's do our best to keep some of it wild and free and natural as Nature made it! All proceeds go to helping keep me and Kush wild and free as Nature made us. love.power.peace.light
